Metta School is a special education school that caters to students with mild intellectual disability and / or mild autism spectrum disorders, between 7 to 21 years old. Our wide range of school programmes include broad-based foundational years and basic education in functional skills as well as specialized vocational training leading to national certification.

As part of our expansion, we are recruiting suitably qualified professionals to join our team of committed and passionate staff and work synergistically to serve our special needs students.

1. Job Coach

Responsibilities:

  • Perform job matching and job re-design
  • Develop transition plan for individual student from school to open employment
  • Source for suitable employers
  • Monitor student progress, achievements and participation at workplace through appropriate documentation and recordkeeping
  • Working closely with employer partners and their employees in understanding our students at workplace


Requirements:

  • Min Diploma from recognized institution / 5 GCE “A” &/or “O’ level credits
  • Trained with Diploma in Special Education (DISE) is an advantage
  • Relevant experience in working with special needs students is preferred
  • Ability to establish rapport and motivate others


2. Social Worker

Responsibilities

  • To conduct financial assessments for various financial subsidy and welfare assistance schemes
  • To address the social, emotional and behavioural concerns of students through individual counselling or group work sessions
  • To equip and empower parents and caregivers though information sharing and parenting workshops
  • To collaborate with teachers, other allied health professional and external agencies to create a better environment in support of the student’s learning.
  • To maintain and update client and other relevant records.


Requirements:

  • Degree in Social Work from recognised educational institution.
  • Preferably with 1 -2 years working experience in social services.
  • Fresh graduate may apply.
  • Has passion to work with children with intellectual disability and / or mild autism spectrum disorders as well as family members.
  • Good team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills.


3. SPECIAL EDUCATION CURRICULUM TEACHER (Maths)

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in curriculum review by contributing towards crafting of scope and sequence.
  • To contribute ideas for customised resources and create practice papers.
  • Enhance curriculum content by creating Power points, worksheets, develop teaching activities guides, TOS etc.
  • Guide new teachers in the use of curriculum resources.
  • Conduct learning support during curriculum time as well as June holidays.
  • Stand-in for teachers when needed.
  • Assist to vet Mathematics assessment papers and analyse papers for review and planning.
  • Update and conduct placement test.
  • Monitor progress of students newly placed in respective modules. To provide learning support to bridge learning gaps and help students transit better to the module.
  • Oversee Mathematics examination logistics such as printing of papers, invigilation, handover of scripts, invigilation roster for performance test, inspection of performance test stations, etc.
  • Manage Teacher’s Resource Library


Requirements:

  • Degree and/or Diploma from a recognized local educational institution
  • Trained with Diploma in Education or Diploma in Special Education (DISE) with relevant experience in teaching special needs students.
  • Must have experience in mainstream Mathematics teaching.
  • Good team player with strong communication and interpersonal skill


4. SPECIAL EDUCATION TRAINER (HOUSEKEEPING)

Responsibilities:          

  • Plan Individual/Group Education Plans, Schemes of Work and Lesson Plans
  • Design lessons, meaningful activities and assessment task
  • Monitor pupils’ progress, achievements and participation in school activities through appropriate documentation and record keeping
  • Implement interventional strategies with/alongside Allied Health Professionals to
    assist pupils with specific learning difficulties with speech, gross or fine motor skills, social interaction skills or psychological-related issues
  • Prepare and use a varied choice of appropriate teaching and instructional aids and
    ICT to cater to the different levels of learning abilities in pupils
  • Guide and equip pupils with the pre-requisite skills needed for future employment
    opportunities
  • Collaborate with parents through various means such as telephone calls, emails,
    notes, letters, Parent-Teacher Conferences or home visits to facilitate pupils’ overall growth and development


Requirements:

  • Diploma or Advanced graduates in Housekeeping.
  • Industry Certification in Food Hygiene
  • Advanced Certificate in Training & Assessment &/ or Industry Trainer Certificate are an advantage
  • At least five years of firm grounding in related industry experience
  • Teaching experienced with Special Needs students would be an advantage
  • In the education and training field with knowledge in ITE Skills Certificate (ISC) course materials
  • Good team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills


5. OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST

Responsibilities:

  • Assess & identify individual or group-based needs for students with special needs with respect to occupational therapy issues.
  • Develop and implement appropriate individualised OT Programme to address their needs.
  • Liaise with parents, teachers and other allied health professionals to provide multidisciplinary support to the students.
  • Evaluate and monitor progress at regular intervals and review for their effectiveness and relevance
  • Maintain updated client records, therapy resources, occupational therapy programmes / intervention and report


Requirements
:

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy with full registration from AHPC
  • Member of Singapore Association of Occupational Therapists
  • Experience working with mild intellectual disability and /or autism spectrum disorders would be an advantage
  • Good team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Preferably with 2 – 3 years of relevant working experience
